Educational institutions have unique opportunities for environmental improvements due to the nature of their campuses. KMEA understands the local zoning, capital planning, and the involvement of site users, that occur on many of these campuses. We have experience working within these systems to identify opportunities for improvement on stormwater management, habitat restoration, green building, water and energy conservation, engineering site planning, and construction oversight.
KMEA can support environmental, energy, and engineering condition assessment studies for new and existing properties and provide planning support for environmental site remediation efforts and engineering upgrades. K-12 Education
KMEA can assist districts with issues arising from the age of their campuses and evaluate them for safety hazards, such as asbestos and radon, or prepare plans for greening schools with vegetation and other sustainability actions. We can assist with assessments of historic soil contamination and general conditions of property or engaging students and staff in environmental sustainability programs to protect air, water, and soil resources. KMEA can help create outdoor classrooms where environmental issues can have a hands-on component.
Colleges and Universities
KMEA’s multidisciplinary team works with institutions to help them navigate around all aspects of sustainability. We can also engage students to study site impacts, propose site changes, and help identify and calculate beneficial improvements of sustainability actions on the environment. KMEA staff have experience working with college campuses, administrators, and student groups to maximize environmental benefit.
